Pokémon Go Now Available in Hindi Language with New In-Game Events

Niantic and The Pokémon Company have announced that Pokémon Go is now available in Hindi, and in honor of India’s Hindi divas, the game now includes the names of over 800 Pokémon in Hindi, making it more relatable to the Indian population.

Users can now search the Pokédex page for new names in Hindi, and soon players will be able to find information and information about all Pokémon in Hindi as well.

Omar Tellez, Vice President of Emerging Markets, Niantic said, “The Hindi version of Pokémon GO promotes inclusion, encourages engagement and empowers more players to embark on their Pokémon GO adventures.”

He added, “Since the launch of the game in 2016, we have added over five million Pokéstops across India and the company has also organized several on-site activations. We are confident that this step with The Pokémon Company will further help us expand our audience base in our country.”

To celebrate the Hindi localization, Niantic is also organizing a month-long event for Indian players. The company has stated that in-game events will include Field Research, Timed Research, and bonuses with special rewards. Also, they are releasing a new movie ‘The Journey of One Dream’ in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Bengali. The story revolves around a father and his son and emphasizes the importance of family ties.

“India is one of our most important markets. We believe that the Hindi localization marks the starting point for a long journey ahead,” says Kakato Utsunomiya, COO of The Pokémon Company. He also said that The Pokémon Company would further establish itself in India and wants their long-term vision to “enrich the Pokémon world hand in hand with the Pokémon fan community.”
